Inspera eye tracking
Quote from Admin on May 24, 2022, 10:19 amHello @luoluo87,
as far as I know, Inspera does not use eye tracking technology.
They do however use some form of automated behavior recognition. If you show unusual behavior on camera, Inspera will flag these parts on the recordings, so the University invigilators later can review theses sections.
Types of unusual behavior can include:
- constant up-down/left-right head movement (indicates, that you look away from the exam onto something else)
- audio spikes (indicates, someone else is in the room or you're talking to somebody)
- your head/face is not visible (you left the room for a break etc.)
In addition, Inspera will analyze all the running programs on your computer and tracking them. Students used Remote Desktop in the past to connect to a second screen (Inspera will block that). For hand written exams, it will record all your screen movements and programs. So be sure to not open any browser and look for stuff while Inspera is running.
At the end, Inspera is not telling the invigilators you cheated. They will only flag suspicious behavior and mark them on the recording.
The University staff at the end decides, if they even want to review your recordings or if your exam is good enough to pass and shows no signs of outside material.
The University of Auckland has an interesting Inspera Privacy Notice:
And of course the Privacy Notice of Inspera itself:
